Wanda L. “Penny” Prince, 89, of Hillsboro died Nov. 16, 2020, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Prince was a bus driver for the Hillsboro R-3 School District. She was a volunteer with and past president of the Hillsboro Food Pantry. She was born Aug. 21, 1931, in Loveland, Colo., the daughter of the late Ivan and Rachel (Harrod) Hudson. She was preceded in death by her husband: James R. “Jim” Prince.
She is survived by three children: Valerie (Doug) McKechan of St. Louis, Robert (Chrissy) Prince of Hillsboro and Julia Anderson of Hillsboro; two half sisters: Blanche and Margaret; three half brothers: Wayne, Willard, and James; eight grandchildren: Jake, Jordan, Jack, Leah, Darren, Hunter, Brayden and Chelsea; and two great-grandsons: Graeme and Oliver.
She was preceded in death by two half brothers: Ennes and Richard; five stepsisters: Ivie, Vercie, Nola, Revah and Hester; and three stepbrothers: Everett, Johnnie, and Enos.
Visitation is at noon until a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto, officiated by Jimmie Turner. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Hillsboro Food Pantry, P.O. Box 168, Hillsboro, 63050.
