Walter W. “Wally” Schmidt, 63, of Festus died Feb .26, 2016, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Schmidt was a supervisor for Chock Full of Nuts Coffee Co. and was a member of American Legion Post 253 and the National Hot Rod Association. He liked going to Riverside Salvage Yard in St. Louis and loved his dog, Maddie. Born June 24, 1952, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late William E. and Jeanette (Hatchard) Schmidt.

He is survived by his wife: Shirley (Floyd) Schmidt; three daughters: Tricia Siener of Wentzville, Gracie Williams of Festus and Jennifer (Christopher) Kahl of Dow, Ill.; seven grandchildren: Nicholas, Amber, Storm, Nautica, Keily, Kyle and Logan; a brother: William (Diana) Schmidt of Ste. Genevieve; a sister: Jackie (Herman) Heinrichs of St. Louis; and his brothers- and sisters-in-law: Dannie (Glenda) Floyd, David (Marcia) Green and Danny (Michelle) Parnell.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Dorothy Weberling; and a brother-in-law: Steve Floyd.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, at Mahn De Soto Chapel, 900 N. Main St., in De Soto, followed immediately by funeral services officiated by Deacon Raymond Powers. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 253, 849 American Legion Drive, Festus 63028. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
