Walter “Andy” Hord, 81, of House Springs died April 15, 2020. Mr. Hord was a bricklayer, beginning his career at R.E. Vickery and eventually starting his own business called 77 Builders. He enjoyed golfing and playing tennis. He also was a devout Christian and was active in the church. Born Nov. 21, 1938, in Glendale, he was the son of the late
Walter J. and Martha (Davis) Hord.
He is survived by his wife: Saundra “Sandy” Hord; three children: Mickie (Jim) Gordon of Arnold, Angie (Bud) Strauser of Cedar Hill and Tammie (Chris) Baker of House Springs; nine grandchildren: Buddy (Shannon) Strauser, Jamie (Jason) Cearlock, Chad (Jane) Strauser, Andrew (Kristi) Gordon, Mark Wallace, Elisha Wallace, Zack Strauser, Karissa Baker and Alexa Baker; 12 great-grandchildren: Natalie, Carter, Elizabeth, Hunter, Max, Brody, Chase, Alexandria, Olivia, Brooke, Rhys and Noah; two sisters: Helen (the late Oscar) Higgenbotham and Pat (Jerry) Malone, along with many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by three siblings: Ralph Bowers, Shirley Russell and Shelia
Hord.
A visitation, organized in small gatherings, will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Attendees will receive numbers when they arrive at the funeral home and are asked to remain in their vehicles until they are invited in by number. Private funeral services will be held at the funeral home, followed by a private interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
