Irwin, Wallace

Wallace E. Irwin, 81, of De Soto died Sept. 13, 2014, at Crystal Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Festus. Mr. Irwin was the owner of Irwin Garage Door Company and a member of Victoria United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Carpenters Union Local 73. Born June 21, 1933, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Charles and Maggie “Margaret” (Lewis) Irwin.

He is survived by his wife: Marilyn Mae (Wantland) Irwin of De Soto, whom he married April 29, 1953, in De Soto. He also is survived by three children: Monte Irwin of Victoria, Elizabeth (Stephen Deaton) Irwin of Charlotte, N.C., and Monica Irwin of Basehor, Kan; and four grandchildren: Alex (Amber) Wallace Irwin of Knoxville, Tenn., Catherine Irwin of Charlotte, N.C., and Lucas and Alexis Yockel of Basehor, Kan., and their father, Keven Yockel.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Victoria United Methodist Church, 5321 Chouteau Ave., in De Soto, officiated by Pastor Nancy Hollingsworth. Burial is in the Victoria Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Victoria United Methodist Church, c/o Nancy Hollingsworth, 5376 State Road P, De Soto, 63020. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
