Wade Ray McFarland, 83, of Arnold died Nov. 14, 2022, at the Woodlands in Arnold. Mr. McFarland served four years in the U.S. Air Force and 35 years as a sergeant with the St. Louis County Police Department. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Arnold and was active with a group of former Air Force personnel who had been stationed in Spain. He was known for his devout faith and love of family. Born Jan. 22, 1939, in Elvins, he was the son of the late James Newton and Ethel Irene (Russell) McFarland
He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Judith Ann (Johnson) McFarland; a daughter: Rae Ann (Mike) Noah of St. Charles; three siblings: Glenwood McFarland of Arnold, Mary (Mike) Watson of Imperial and Gary (Linda) McFarland of Winfield; seven grandchildren: Thomas (Catrina) McFarland, Cara (Franscisco) Avatlos, Michelle (Will) Bryant, Kathryn Noah, Christine (Mark) Thompson, Shannon McFarland and Kerri McFarland; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son: Michael Scott (Cathie survives) McFarland.
A celebration of life was held Nov. 18 at Canaan Baptist Church in Arnold. Burial was in St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre. Memorials may be made to BackStoppers or to the Samaritan’s Purse organization. Arrangements were under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home in south St. Louis County.
