Virkay M. Boehm, 68, of De Soto died May 31, 2019, at her home. Ms. Boehm was a published author, water aerobics instructor, beautician, store owner, and dance instructor, among other pursuits. Born July 14, 1950, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Catherine M. (Wagner) and Virgil E. Boehm.
She is survived by three children: Kathy (Jeff) Oberkfell of Festus, Sam Pona of Virginia Beach, Va., and Keith (Theresa) Pona of De Soto; a daughter-in-law: Tammy Biggers-Pona; a sister: Peggy Sagehorn of De Soto; two half sisters: Lynn Vitale of St. Louis and Gina (Eric) Painter of Florissant; eight grandchildren: Travis Jacob (Allison) Bradley, Ashley Pona, Sam (Stephanie) Pona II, Alexis Pona, Ayrehl (Ryan) Brooks, Kortnee Pona, Dameon Pona and Marissa Missey; her stepmother: Nancy Boehm of Florissant; a great-grandson on the way; and her cat, Snuggles.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Michael Boehm.
A funeral service was held June 3 at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto, officiated by Deacon Ed Boyer. Burial is in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lemay. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
