Virgil Alan Owens, 65, of Escondido, Calif., formerly of Festus, died Sept. 1, 2022, in Escondido, Calif. Mr. Owens was a Baptist minister. Born Aug. 6, 1957, in Festus, he was the son of the late Jane (Whitter) and Virgil Owens.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years: Susan (Longley) Owens of Rancho Bernardo, Calif.; a daughter: Sarah Owens of Phoenix, Ariz.; and three siblings: Rita and Roy Owens, both of Escondido, Calif., and Dave Owens of Indianapolis, Ind.
He was preceded in death by a son: Brent Alan Owens.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday Nov. 12, at Second Baptist Church, 723 Horine Road, in Festus. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Crystal City. Arrangements are under the direction of California Funeral Alternatives.
