Victoria Ann “Vicki” (Schmatz) Pointer, 78, St. Louis
Victoria Ann “Vicki” (Schmatz) Pointer, 78, of St. Louis died Aug. 1, 2021. Mrs. Pointer, a 1961 Beaumont High School graduate, married her high school sweetheart in 1965, and she and her late husband moved to Arnold in 1972, where she lived until last year. She was a member of St. David Catholic Church in Arnold for 49 years. She enjoyed exercising and was a member of Ten Toes Express, taking walks with fellow St. Louis-area seniors. She also liked traveling, especially taking mystery trips in which she wouldn’t know the destination until arriving at the airport. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her smile, kindness and warmth. She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Audrey Schmatz.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Frank Pointer, who died in 2010, as well as a son: Michael of Silver Spring, Md.; three daughters: Amy (Todd) Teuscher of University City, Sara (Eric) of St. Louis and Anne of St. Louis; a brother: Thomas; three sisters: Audrey, Margaret and Mary; eight grandchildren: Madeline (Adam), Abigail, Jack, Kathryn, Nicholas (Greta), Phillip, Lily and Lucy; and a great-grandchild: Elliot.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Dan.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today (Aug. 5) at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Home, 4830 Lemay Ferry Road, in St. Louis County. A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 7) at St. David Catholic Church, 2334 Tenbrook Road, in Arnold. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Arnold. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1310 Papin St., St. Louis, 63103. Arrangements are under the direction of John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Home.
