Venetta M. Joedicke, 90, of De Soto died Oct. 2, 2022, at Crystal Oaks Skilled Nursing Facility in Festus. Ms. Joedicke worked in many clothing factories as a seamstress as well as the De Soto Shoe Factory. She also volunteered with the Girl Scouts. Born Dec. 30, 1931, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Hettie Leora (Reed) and Stephen Albert Humphrey. She was preceded in death by her husband: Emil M. Joedicke Sr.
She is survived by seven children: Roy R. (Mary Lee) Joedicke of De Soto, Joyce A. (Dale) Graham of Garden Ridge, Texas, Marie (the late Alan) Schuh of Hillsboro, Emil M. “Matt” Joedicke Jr. of De Soto, Stephen L. (Linda) Joedicke Sr. of De Soto, Jeffrey W. (Amy) Joedicke of De Soto and Tracy L. (Matt) Zoph of De Soto; two siblings: Donald Humphrey of De Soto and James (Olive) Humphrey of Camdenton; 12 grandchildren: Scotty (Christy) Joedicke of De Soto, Jason (Beth) Joedicke of Affton, Lisa (Mark) Cummings of Liberty Hill, Texas, Crissy (Donovan) Dove of New Braunfels, Texas, Cory Schuh of Hillsboro, Vronica (Kendill) Gordon of Colorado Springs, Colo., Stephen (Felicia) Joedicke Jr. of Festus, Travis (Erin) Joedicke of Crystal City, Shelly Joedicke of De Soto, Christopher (Djuna) Joedicke of Hillsboro, Mitchell Zoph of De Soto and Jordyn Zoph of De Soto; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son: Albert Allen Joedicke; two brothers: Albert Humphrey and Robert Humphrey; a sister: Anna Pyle; a grandson: Shawn (Erin survives) Joedicke; and two great-grandchildren: Samantha and Lilli Joedicke.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 2-2:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. A procession will then travel to Calvary Cemetery in De Soto for a graveside service at 3 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Dr. G. Michael Rose. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis 63132. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
