Cage, Thomas

Thomas Clyde “Tom” Cage, 85, of De Soto died March 16, 2019, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis County. Mr. Cage was a retired machine operator for Gaylord Container and a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed travelling and dancing. Born April 30, 1933, in Pevely, he was the son of the late Elsie (Mirgain) and Clyde Thomas Cage. He was preceded in death by his wife: Veleda Jean Cage.

He is survived by two children: Tamira Cage of Farmington and Dale (Christine) Cage of De Soto; two sisters: Nancy Gibbs of Eureka and June Williams of Dittmer; five grandchildren: Zachary Cage, Sidney Cage, Jordan Cage, Madison O’Neail and Michael Keller; a great-grandson: Colton Holst; and his companion: Patricia Lexa.

He was preceded in death by his longtime companion: Loretta Dierks; a sister: Edith Baranowski; and two brothers: Ralph Cage and Clifton Clyde Cage.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21, at the funeral home chapel, officiated by Bruce Valle. Burial is in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
