Theodor “Ted” Walter, 82, of Arnold died on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2020. Mr. Walter was a meat cutter and a member of Local 88 for more than 56 years. He was a member of St. David Church. He enjoyed traveling, golfing and rooting for the Cardinals.
Born Feb. 6, 1938, in Erlaheim, Germany, he was the son of Gustav and Maria Walter.
Mr. Walter immigrated to America in 1957, first to New York City before settling in St. Louis in 1961.
Ed and Don Schnuck personally interviewed and hired him to cut meat at one of their then-six Schnuck’s stores. Mr. Walter remained with the company for 38 years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elaine (Walkenbach) Walter, whom he married Aug. 14, 1965; two children: Karen (Jason) Culver and Eric (Andrea) Walter; two sisters: Emma (Bill) Zoll of Affton and his twin sister Hildie (the late Peter) Ellenberger of Erlaheim; six grandchildren: Jaimee (Michael) Chapman, Jenna and Kurtis Culver; and Greta, Teddy and George Walter; and one great-grandchild: Norah Chapman.
A celebration of live will be held at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of St. Louis Cremation.
