Terry Reed, 73, of Hillsboro, formerly of Granite City, Ill., died Oct. 6, 2018, at his home. Mr. Reed was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1966, serving on the Saratoga CVA-60. He retired as a supervisor at Granite City Steel after 27 years. He was a 40-year member of the Masonic Triple Lodge 835 in Granite City and a member of Hillsboro United Methodist Church. Born Oct. 8, 1944, in Litchfield, Ill., he was the son of the late Cordelia (Reed) and Paul Titsworth.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Jo (Bower) Reed, whom he married Nov. 24, 2001, in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; a daughter: Kelly (Roy) Snyder of Houston, Texas; a son: Korey (Tina) Reed of Troy, Ill.; two stepsons: Brian (Jennifer) Wood of Benton, Ark., and Nathan Przybysz of St. Louis; seven grandchildren: Bailey Reed of Troy, Ill., Chase Snyder of Houston, Chloe Snyder of Houston, Matthew Wood of Benton, Kacie Reed of Troy, Katherine Wood of Benton and Brady Reed of Troy; three sisters: Rosalie (Armin) Harris of Granite City, Ill., Brenda (Dale) O’Bear of Plymouth, Ill., and Patty Morris of Kansas, Ill.; two brothers: Gary “Sonny” (Mayetta) Reed of Glen Carbon, Ill., and Larry (Becca) Reed of Benton, Ill.; and three pets: Maggie, Maxwell and Murphy.
A memorial service was held Oct. 8 at Hillsboro United Methodist Church in Hillsboro. Burial with full military honors will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
