Sylvia Christine “June” Hunter, 94, formerly of Herculaneum, died Sept. 26, 2020, in Crestview, Fla. Mrs. Hunter was born June 16, 1926, in Old Jenny Lind, Ark., the only child of the late Christine (Krisher) and Al Rowden. She lived in St. Louis before moving to Herculaneum, where she met her high school sweetheart and first husband: the late George Pink. They raised their family in Arnold. She moved to Mountain Home, Ark., where in 1985 she met and married her second husband, Ivan Hunter, to whom she was married 31 years before his death.
She was an avid bowler, working at bowling alleys in both Arold and Mountain Home, and enjoyed a variety of hobbies such as square dancing, playing piano and sewing. She was a writer who took classes into her late 80s, and was noted for her extensive correspondence. She enjoyed old music and movies and had an encyclopedic knowledge of singers and actors.She was a member of TOPS in Mountain Home and held several offices over the years. She was a member of the Cotter Cuties chapter of the Red Hat Society and a baptized member of Christian Church in Mountain Home.
She is survived by three daughters: Carol Pink of Leasburg, Sylvia Sittner of Affton and Laura Pink of Crestview, Fla.; a son: Elliott Pink of Crestview, formerly of House Springs; seven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Doris Brutcher.
A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery in Arnold, officiated by minister Dan Curry of Arnold Church of Christ. The family reuests those attending follow COVID-19 mitigation protocols such as face coverings and social distancing. Arrangements are under the direction of Brackney Funeral Home in Crestview, Fla., and Kutis Funeral Home in south St. Louis County.
