Stuart C. McCaleb, 94, of Festus died Dec. 25, 2022, at his home. Mr. McCaleb was a talented musician who served in the U.S. Air Force Band and played for many years in the St. Louis area. He was a member of American Legion Post 253 and Elks Lodge 1721. He was a vice president of American Triad, a land development company which developed Timberline and Goose Creek Lakes. Born May 22, 1928, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Alice Isabel (Colvin) Vinyard and Willard Alonzo McCaleb. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Bette (Boardman) McCaleb.
He is survived by his wife: Edith (Warden) Maupin McCaleb; a son: Steve (Carla) McCaleb of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter: Jill (John) Croxford of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; a sister: Nancy (the late Paul) Polette of St. Charles; a brother: Willard “Bill” (the late Lois) McCaleb; five grandchildren: Amie (Jeremiah) Schaff, Stacie (Robert) Davis, Ryan (Summer) McCaleb, Chelsea Croxford and Matthew (Stephanie) Croxford; and one great-grandchild: Nora McCaleb, with another on the way.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at noon Sunday, Jan. 1, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
