Steven J. Bauer, 68, of Hillsboro died May 5, 2022, in Festus. Mr. Bauer retired from refrigeration maintenance for the Anheuser-Busch Cos. He was a member of Hillsboro Christian Church. Born Dec. 13, 1953, in Ironton, he was the son of Ruth Ann (Boring) Labdon of Cedar Hill and the late Joseph M. Bauer.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years: Jill M. (Bacott) Bauer; three children: Amy (Chad) Lefler of Barnhart, Brandon (Melissa) Schmitt of West Chester, Ohio, and Miranda (Matt) Lucas of Hillsboro; two siblings: Laura (Leamon) Crafton of Sullivan and Michael (Terri) Bauer of Boerne, Texas; seven grandchildren: Sarah and Rachael and Sophia Nichols, all of Naples, Fla., Lilly and Melody Lucas, both of Hillsboro, and Isabella and Madison Lefler, both of Barnhart; and two great-grandchildren: Arielle Duverseaun and Messiah Norelia, both of Naples.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather: Robert A. Labdon; and a daughter: Heather Nichols.
A celebration of life will be held at Hillsboro Christian Church at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hillsboro Christian Church or the Missouri Department of Conservation Youth Hunt. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home.
