Steven Hassell, 62, of Hillsboro died June 2, 2017. Mr. Hassell enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and sports, particularly the St. Louis Cardinals. Born Feb. 27, 1955, in Centralia, Ill., he was the son of Opal (Brown) Parks of Freeburg, Ill., and the late Denver L. Hassell.
He is survived by his fiance: Robin Turner of Hillsboro; five children: Travis (Amy) Hassell of Tennessee, Lindsey (John) Waldrop of Tennessee, Katie Hassell of South Carolina, Tierney (Brad) Boyd of South Carolina and Stephen Hassell of Hillsboro; a sister: Sharon (Paul) Becker of Millstadt, Ill.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Stephanie Nicole Hassell.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill, followed immediately by funeral services. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made in the form of a new toy (not a stuffed animal) to be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
