Stephen Starkey Jr., 78, of Imperial died May 5, 2022, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mr. Starkey was a grocery store owner and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Arnold. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Born Oct. 16, 1943, in Belle, Calif., he was the son of the late Thelma (Williams) Steger and Stephen Starkey Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Dianne (Jung) Starkey; three children: Scott (Kim) Starkey of Arnold, Chris (Stephanie) Starkey of Arnold and Suzanne (Darin) Mangan of Burbank, Calif.; five grandchildren: Logan Starkey of Arnold, Colby (Ellie) Starkey of Jacksonville, Fla., Fiona Starkey of Arnold, and Madison and Lance Mangan of Burbank, Calif.; and one great-grandchild: Charlie Starkey of Jacksonville, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Sandra Sue Feager.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 21, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3517 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. Memorials may be made to Brendan's Friday Backpacks or to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home in south St. Louis County.
