Stanley J. Lay, 61, of Hillsboro died May 12, 2020. Mr. Lay worked as a carpenter and was a longtime volunteer at the Hillsboro Food Pantry. Born Feb. 9, 1959, in Sikeston, he was the son of the late Billy and Mary (Cole) Lay.
He is survived by his wife: Sally C. (Felchlin) Lay of Hillsboro; three daughters: Sarah (Michael) Eisele of Imperial, Bethany Lay of De Soto and Emily (Christopher Pitti) Lay of Crystal City; five grandchildren: Aiden, Elijah, Jaxson, Zoe and Ashley; three sisters: Janet Mendenhall of Farmington, Pamela (Dennis) Caine of Hillsboro and Laura (Daniel) Otten of Imperial; a brother: Allen Lay of De Soto; a sister-in-law: Susan (David) Wojtkowski of Hillsboro; a brother-in-law: Joseph (Mary) Felchlin of Colorado Springs, Colo.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Deborah Lay and Annette Lay; and a brother-in-law: Larry Mendenhall.
Funeral service was private. Private burial was held in the Peaceful Meadows Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Arrangements were under the direction of Robert D Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
