Sondra Elizabeth Butler, 83, formerly of De Soto

Sondra Elizabeth Butler, 83, of Irving, Texas, formerly of De Soto, died July 11, 2022, at her home. Mrs. Butler spent much of her childhood at the family’s farm outside Hillsboro. She fulfilled a longtime dream by graduating from the Kansas City Art Institute at age 55. She enjoyed traveling, taking more than 100 trips with her husband. She also liked researching her family tree and visited some of her ancestors’ homes in Europe. Born June 30, 1939, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Alberta and George Sapper.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years: Patrick Butler, who she married in December 1994. She also is survived by three children: Brad Eslick of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Taylor Eslick of Kings Beach, Calif., and Elizabeth Nash of Lewisville, Texas; a brother: John Sapper of Hillsboro; three grandchildren: James, Anderson and Thomas Nash; and three nephews: John, Roger and Terry Sapper.

She also was preceded in death by a brother: Kernan Sapper.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Robert D. Brown Funeral Home, 103 Fourth St., in Hillsboro. Burial will be in Hillsboro Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity International or the Arthritis Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home.
