Sutton, Shirley

Shirley Joan Sutton, 81, of Columbia, formerly of De Soto, died Feb. 9, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Sutton co-owned and operated United Expositions Inc. in Columbia. Born Aug. 28, 1935, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late William and Mildred (Davis) Manes. She was preceded in death by her husband: Joe Sutton.

She is survived by three children: Joe S. (Christina) Sutton of De Soto, Paul (Kaye) Sutton of Rolla and Deborah Lynn (Gary) Wunder of Columbia; two brothers: William C. Manes of Dana Point, Calif., and Daniel G. Manes of Cedar Hill; four sisters: Tari A. Alcorn of O’Fallon, Judy S. Harmon of Hillsboro, Sally C. Buttler of Grove, Okla., and Vera Zamitto of Maryland Heights; 13 grandchildren: Peter, Kezia, Jennifer, Baron, Kayla, Tyler, Taylor, MacKensie, Cameron, Jason, Megan, Abbey and Missy; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister: Sandra L. Depue; three brothers: Melvin C. Manes, Charles E. Manes and Michael C. Manes; and one grandson: Tyler.

A funeral service was held Feb. 14 at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto, officiated by Don Hamilton. Burial was in the Four Seasons Mausoleum at Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
