Conway, Shirley

Shirley Jean Simms Conway, 86, of Ste. Genevieve died Dec. 28, 2021, at Independence Care Center in Perryville. Mrs. Simms worked at the Biltbest Window Cor. For more than 25 years. She enjoyed flowers, boardgames, jokes, travelling, and spending time with family and friends. Born April 23, 1935, in French Village, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Elsie (Stroup) Johnson. She was preceded in death by two husbands: Virgil Simms and George Conway.

She is survived by two daughters: Audrey (Ray) Joggerst of Ste. Genevieve and Donna (James) Brewster of St. Mary; a sister: Janet Gowens of De Soto; six grandchildren: Raymond Virgil (Candace) Joggerst, Amanda (Robert Crump) Barnes, Chasidy (Roger) Walker, Darla (Rocky) Drury, Ben (Kim) Brewster and Trevor (Christina Allen) Brewster; 18 great-grandchildren: Hannah Barnes, Megan Barnes, Eleanor Joggerst, Anne Joggerst, Alana Crump, Geneva Crump, Lindsey Crump, Shelby (Bryce) Bohnert, Auston (Peyton Beiser) Gegg, Grace Gegg, Jackson Walker, Madelynn Brewster, Mason Brewster, Emma Brewster, Brooklyn Brewster, Tyler Buckingham, Harleigh Brown and Payne Drury; and one great-great-grandchild: Cecilia Bohnert, with two other great-great-grandchildren on the way.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Kenneth Johnson, Robertus Johnson, Donald Johnson and Joseph Johnson; and a sister: Mary Ellen Streiler.

A graveside service will take place at a later date at Crestlawn Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the National Kidney Foundation, the Juvenile Diabetes Association or the National MS Society. Arrangements were under the direction of Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve.
