Shirley G. (Davis) Tolan, 86, of Sedalia, formerly of Hillsboro, died Aug. 24, 2020, in Crystal City. Ms. Tolan, an 18-year survivor of multiple myeloma, worked as a secretary for Boy Scouts USA and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro. She was born Dec. 6, 1933, in Granite City, Ill., the daughter of the late Lemon and Nella Ruth (Steen) Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband: Terrence Lew Tolan.
She is survived by two sons: Terrence K. (Charlotte) Tolan of De Soto and Glen R. (Karen) Tolan of Festus; two daughters: Karen L. (Harold) Franklin of Sedalia and Tamara S. Stricklan of Downs, Ill.; 14 grandchildren: Britni, Blake (Amanda) Tolan, Devon, Joe, Chelsea, Shana, Nicholas, Natalie, Chris, Greg, Kevin, Daniel, Anthony and Brandon; and three great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Brantley and Hank.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother: Kermit Davis.
Funeral services and burial were private. Memorials may be made to Crystal Oaks Foundation, 1500 Calvary Church Road, Festus, 63028; or to Crossroads Hospice, 14310 East 42nd St., South Unit 600, Independence, 64055. Arrangements were under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
