Sheila Ann McHawes, 69, of Herculaneum died June 14, 2016, in Honolulu. Mrs. McHawes operated a tax preparation business and was retired as a victim’s advocate for Comtrea’s A Safe Place shelter. She was born Oct. 2, 1946, in Nashville, Tenn., the daughter of Hallie (Ellis) Wooldridge and Thomas Ellis.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years: Dennis D. McHawes.
She is survived by two sons: Dennis (Gayla) McHawes of Festus and Donald McHawes of Herculaneum; two sisters: Linda Ellis (Rick Slinkard) Schepers of Fredricktown and Rhonda (Mike) Gardiner of Festus; four grandchildren: Dennis McHawes II, Dae McHawes, Madison McHawes and Marli McHawes.
A private celebration of life will be held later. Memorials can be made to the ALS Association or the Veterans Association.
