Selma Alcott Braun, 93, of Festus died Feb. 17, 2018, at Crystal Oaks Assisted Living in Crystal City. Mrs. Braun was a secretary for Overberg Painting in Festus and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1230 Auxiliary in Festus. She was a charter member of Our Lady Church in Festus and founder of their funeral bereavement dinner program. Born Aug. 28, 1924, in Festus, she was the daughter of the late Henry Stolzer and Dora (Frazier) Stolzer Bayer. She was preceded in death by her first husband: Donald Alcott; and second husband: Harold Braun.
She is survived by three daughters: Kathy (Michael Keener) Johns of New Lebanon, Ohio, Janet (Jack) Leitterman of Festus and Joan (the late Blake) Williams of Mountain Home, Ark.; three sons: Donald (Linda) Alcott of Keller, Texas, James (Janet) Alcott of Festus, and Robert (the late Barb) Braun; 12 grandchildren: Cindy (Matt) Aldridge, Steve (Allison) Alcott, Jaime (Jeff) Campbell, Justin (Theresa) Johns, Matthew (Kasey) Leitterman, Nicolas (Brianne) Leitterman, Tara (Jeff Avery) Alcott, Jimmy Alcott, Jessica (Luke) Pitchford, Nicole (Dallas) Daniel, Jeffrey (Brandy) Braun and Brian Braun; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather: Ed Bayer; a sister: Evelyn (the late Elmer) Drury; a ?: Clifford (the late Norris Lee) Stolzer; an infant granddaughter: Patricia Ann Alcott; and a grandson: Shay Scott Leitterman.
Visitation is scheduled from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, followed by funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Catholic Church, 1550 St. Mary’s Lane, in Festus, officiated by Father Jeffrey Maassen. Burial is in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Our Lady Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
