Scot Joseph McCreary, 61, Hillsboro

Scot Joseph McCreary, 61, of Hillsboro died Aug. 1, 2022, in Festus. Mr. McCreary graduated from Crystal City High School in 1978. He worked for Shoney’s ABB Combustion Engineering and then Southwestern Bell/A.T.T. until his retirement in 2021. He loved being outdoors, hunting and collecting arrowheads. He also liked animals and was a history and science buff. Born Sept. 20, 1960, in Fort Ord, Calif., he was the son of Ruth Ann (French) Yeida of Crustal City and William Joseph McCreary of St. Louis.

He is survived by his wife: Brenda (Massey) McCreary of Hillsboro; three daughters: Andrea (Fred) Henry of De Soto, Katie (Aaron) Williams of De Soto and Chrissy (Josh) Koch of De Soto; a son: Joshua D. (Ashlie Bock) McCreary of De Soto; 11 grandchildren: Trystan Hendrix, Kaley, Emma and Weston Williams, Tyler and Raelan McCreary, Chase and Brooke Bailey, Josh Jr. and Cody and Abigail Koch; three brothers: Jeff (Dana) McCreary of De Soto, Greg (Debra) McCreary of Crystal City and Marc (Andrea) Yeida of Crystal City; a sister: Joelle McCreary of Billings, Mont; a sister-in-law: Joyce (Bill) Twiggs of Hillsboro; and a brother-in-law: Michael (Gwen) Massey of Hillsboro.

He was preceded in death by a stepfather: William E. Yeida; four grandparents: Pete and Dorothy Schulte and Arnold and Theresa McCreary.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Robert D. Brown Funeral Home, 103 Fourth St., in Hillsboro. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the St. Louis Zoo. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home.
