Sarah Doris Holladay, 97, of Minnesota, formerly of Herculaneum, died April 15, 2014. Mrs. Holladay was born in Bismarck, the daughter of the late Margaret and Samuel Huddleston. While still in high school, she began working as a nurse’s aide at a hospital in Chicago Heights. She later became a practical nurse, working in several hospitals in Missouri through World War II. She had many artistic skills, including designing and making women’s hats and clothing, and was a published poet. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert Holladay, who died in 2003. Following his death, she remained in Herculaneum, proud to be recognized as the town’s oldest resident, until 2012, when she relocated to Minnesota to be with her daughters.
She is survived by two daughters: Susan Holladay and Nancy Holladay.
