Sandra M. Thompson, 55, of Hillsboro died March 7, 2017, at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County. Mrs. Thompson was a family care coordinator with Shriners Hospital. She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, Jefferson College and Hickey Business School, and was a member of Book of Acts Church. She had a beautiful singing voice and assisted in the church’s music. Born June 17, 1961, in Festus, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Edna (Bone) Schroeder.
She is survived by her husband: Steven Thompson Sr. of Hillsboro; three children: Stephanie (James) Mareschal of Barnhart, Sierra Thompson of Hillsboro and Steven Thompson Jr. of Hillsboro; two siblings: Juanita Schroeder and Beverly Schroeder, both of Hillsboro; and one grandchild: Ava Mareschal of Barnhart, with another due to be born in May.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Vernna (Robert W.) Effinger
A funeral service was held March 10 at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto, officiated by Barry Lakes. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital, 4400 Clayton Ave., St. Louis, 63110. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
