Ruth E. Tweedy, 75, of De Soto died Jan. 20, 2018, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Tweedy was a custodian at Hillcrest Care Center in De Soto. Born Dec. 21, 1942, in Corning, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Nota (Moore) and Orax Pond. She was preceded in death by her husband: Hearld D. Tweedy.
She is survived by two children: Deon (the late Sheila) Tweedy of De Soto and Kim (Steve) Allen of Hillsboro; a sister: Carolyn Shanks of Mapaville; a sister-in-law: Mary Pond of Maryland Heights; four grandchildren: Steven (Casey) Allen, Tyler (Emily Reando) Allen, Jessica Tweedy and Nickolas Tweedy; and three great-grandchildren: Briar, Tucker and Bella Allen.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph Pond and Gaylord Pond; and a brother-in-law: Russell Shanks.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home, officiated by Greg McCord. Burial is in the in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Leukemia Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
