Ruth Ann Self, 83, of Festus died June 1, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Self worked as a private tax preparer and was a member of Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus. Born Sept. 23, 1938, in St. Louis County, she was the daughter of the late Emma Julia (Pearson) and Delmar James Chapman.
She is survived by her husband: Edwin Self; a daughter: Jennifer Self of Festus; two sons: Brian (Michelle) Self of French Village and Patrick (Patricia) Self of Festus; two brothers: Dale Chapman of Seabrook, Texas, and Thomas (the late Geri) Chapman of Wright City; five grandchildren: Tyler, Allison, Audrey, Wyatt and Ethan Self: and a sister-in-law: Joyce Chapman of Georgia. She was preceded in death by a brother: Richard Allen Chapman; and a sister: Barbara Ellen McClelland.
The family will hold private services. Memorials may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
