Ruby N. Mayes, 86, of De Soto died June 25, 2014, in Hillcrest Care Center in De Soto. She was an assembler and tester for White-Rodgers Corp. She enjoyed gardening, going to the casino and hanging out laundry.
Born June 17, 1928, in North English, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late William and Bessie (Simmons) Moffit. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billie L. Mayes.
She is survived by a son: Terry (Debbie) Mayes of De Soto; a daughter; Colette (John) Carroll of Burlington, Iowa; two sisters: Velda Schauf of Wellman, Iowa, and Mildred Waters of Tiffin, Iowa; three grandchildren: Jason Williamson, Courtney (John) Mleczewski and Nick Carroll; and five great-grandchildren: Kyle, Johnny, Makayla and Autumn Williamson and Leah Mleczewski.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Harold "Ike" Moffit, Dean Moffit and Wayne Moffit; and five sisters: Arlene Swenson, Ida Herrick, Donna “Donnie” Perrin, Emmageane Myers and her twin sister, Ruth Claypool.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Mahn De Soto Chapel, 900 N. Main St. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery, 13675 Mt. Olive Road, in De Soto. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn De Soto Chapel.
