Lewis, Roy

Roy Lee Lewis Jr, 76, of Anaheim, Calif., formerly of De Soto, died Oct. 14, 2021, in Broomfield, Colo. Mr. Lewis’ life revolved around helping and serving others. A 1963 graduate of De Soto High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University and a double master’s degree from Chapman University in California. He spent more than 46 years as an educator, mentor and coach in Anaheim, Calif. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed spending time with his family. Born April 29, 1945, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Doris J. (Vance) Mahn, Roy Lee Lewis Sr and Edward J. Mahn Sr. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Bernardine Lewis.

He is survived by his wife: Carol Anne Lewis of Anaheim; three daughters: Wendy (Lane) Jones of Texas, Belinda (Chris) Davis of California and Sarah (Markus) Tava of Colorado; eight grandchildren: eight great-grandchildren; a sister: Sandra (Everett Edward) Lewis Dahl of Larkspur, Colo.; and numerous aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son: Benjamin Charles Willis; and two brothers: Daniel John “Danny” Mahn III and Edward “Jimmy” Mahn Jr.  

A graveside memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Calvary Cemetery in De Soto and at 2:45 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the non-profit ‘Brian’s Fund,’ which helps provide services for children and adults with developmental disabilities, at Brian’s Fund, Regional Center of Orange County, P.O. Box 22010, Santa Ana, CA 92702-2010. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in De Soto.
