Haverstick, Roy

Roy Earl Haverstick, 71, of Festus died Jan. 3, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Haverstick served as an officer and police chief for the City of Herculaneum. He had great skill in teaching police code. He coached softball and baseball and enjoyed playing softball and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Born Oct. 8, 1950, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Gladys Ida (Harding) and Roy W. Haverstick.

He is survived by a brother: Mark (Christine) Haverstick of Festus; a nephew: Dan (Amanda) Haverstick of Imperial; a great-nephew: Miles Haverstick; his lifelong companion, former wife, and caregiver: Diana Dunker of Festus; three stepdaughters: Jennifer (Michael) Brickhaus of Festus, Annie (Staci) Denoyer of Festus and Becky (Pamela) Taggart-Richardson of Festus; and five step-grandchildren: Blain Prater, Kaitlyn Prater, Allison Prater, Chalmer Brickhaus and Lillian Brickhaus.

A memorial gathering will be from 10 a.m. until a memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Dan Haverstick. Burial is in the De Soto City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 460 N. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, 63141. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
