Roy “Dean” Perry, 83, of Crystal City died Nov. 18, 2020, at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton. Mr. Perry was a retired truck driver for the former PPG Plant in Crystal City. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Festus-Crystal City, and a member of the Elks Lodge 1721 in Festus. He was a NASCAR fan, and in his younger years, he was a stock car driver. Born Oct. 14, 1937, in Lafayette, Ind., he was the son of the late Ellouise Gladys (Siela) and Roy Albert Perry.
He is survived by his wife: Elizabeth Theresa (McCormick) Perry; four daughters: Peggy (Robert) Gift of Fredericksburg, Va., Betty (Denny) Rogers of Branson, Kathy (Tony) Bova of Crystal City and Nancy (Ronald) Spoth of Festus; two brothers: Glenn (Carole) Perry of Monon, Ind., and Marvin (Pauletta) Perry of Royal Center, Ind.; a sister: Gloria Sue Suhr of Fort Meyers, Fla.; nine grandchildren: Jennifer (Todd) Garnatz, Robbie (Jennie) Gift, Stacie (Mike) Adel, Carrie (Jason) Pritchard, Chris (Erin) Bova, Matt (Andrea) Bova, Ryan (Jeanne) Cautrell, Amy (Zach) Knackstedt and Ronald (Wendi) Spoth Jr.; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a grandson: Douglas Winkler.
A memorial service was held Nov. 21 at First United Methodist Church of Festus-Crystal City, officiated by the Rev. Tish Green. His memorial service may be viewed at the First United Methodist Church of Festus-Crystal City’s Facebook page titled Service of Death & Resurrection for Roy “Dean” Perry, Nov. 21, 2020. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the First United Methodist Church stained glass window restoration project. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
