Rose “Petesie” Portell, 87, of Pevely died Nov. 8, 2019, at her home. Ms. Portell worked for Automotive Springs in St. Louis and was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Herculaneum. Born June 1, 1932, in Herculaneum, she was the daughter of the late Pauline Marie (DeGonia) and Joseph Walter Portell.
She is survived by a nephew: Benjamin Watson of Pevely; and 11 other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by eight sisters: Lucille (the late Theo) Dumont, Pauline (the late Simon) Ruth, Betty (the late Charles) Kurtz, Jackie (the late Paul) Weber, Loretta Portell, Alma (the late William) Sweet, Audress Portell and Mary Portell; and four brothers: George (the late Grace) Portell, Kenneth (the late Claire) Portell, Bernard Portell and Russell (the late Bernice) Portell.
A memorial gathering is at 1 p.m. and a memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, 9115 Commercial Blvd., in Pevely. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
