Rosalind Joy S. “Rose” Govero, 94, formerly of Festus
Rosalind Joy S. “Rose” Govero, 94, Springfield, formerly of Festus, died July 29, 2021. Mrs. Govero worked alongside her husband for years in the family business, Govero Oil Co. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crystal City and later St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Springfield. She enjoyed reading, watching her children’s and grandchildren’s events, margaritas, her roses and irises, visiting her siblings in Arizona and spending time with family. Born March 31, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Winifred Speidel.
She is survived by her sister-in-law: Sylvesta “Sis” Werner of Illinois; four children: Robert (Karen) Govero of Munford, Tenn., Beverly (Ron) Teague of Portage, Ind., David (Raina) Govero of Springfield and Steven (Susan) Govero of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband: William P. Govero; a stepfather: Ben Hanson; two brothers: Donnell (Thelma) Speidel and William Speidel; two sisters: Mary (Roy) Binsbacher and Dorothy (Jim) Mullins; and a nephew: Kevin Speidel.
A funeral Mass was held Aug. 3 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Springfield, officiated by Father Thomas Reidy and Father Thomas Kiefer. Burial was in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield. Memorials may be made to Jacob’s Ladder hospice in Springfield.
