Ronnie Freihaut, 61, of House Springs died Dec. 4, 2019. Mr. Freihaut graduated from Northwest High School, where he played all-state football and established a state record for quarterback sacks. He was a skilled carpenter and went on to have a career in the construction trades, retiring as a superintendent with J.S. Alberici. He was an infamous storyteller with a loud, hearty laugh, and enjoyed spending time with his brothers on their family’s farm. Born May 1, 1958, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Genevieve (Halmich) and Walter Freihaut.
He is survived by his lifetime companion: Joni Freihaut; three children: Justin Best of House Springs, Jasara “Sara” Freihaut of Fenton and John “Buck” Freihaut of House Springs; seven grandchildren: Connor Payne, Johnny Payne, Jurnye Best, Jaxyn Best, Justyce Best, Marley Freihaut and Cash Freihaut; two siblings: Gary (Carol) Freihaut and Jerome (Diana) Freihaut; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Stephen Freihaut.
Visitation is scheduled from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery in Byrnesville. A luncheon will be held at the Knights of Columbus in House Springs. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
