Ronell Sidney Shores Sr., 73, of Independence died Feb. 4, 2022, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence. Mr. Shores was retired bartender from the Bullpen in Festus. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Buren Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Herculaneum. He enjoyed singing, playing instruments and training animals. He was born July 12, 1948, in Herculaneum, the son of the late Edna (Burris) Shores and Robert Andersen Jr.
He is survived by three children: Benita M. (Jason) Shores-Panuco and Ronell Sidney Shores II, both of Independence, and Rayan Dobbs of LeSueur, Minn.; seven siblings: Leslie (the late Jerry) Thornton of Festus, Jessie (the late Lindell) Casey of Mineral Point, Audrey (the late Sherman) Kinder of Festus, Annette Shores of Festus, Richard (Ethel) Shores of Pevely, Rita Washington of Herculaneum and Bruce Anderson of Herculaneum; two grandchildren: Devin N. Shores and Ronell Shores III, both of Independence; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by four siblings: Jean (the late Anthony) McGuire, Charles (Jewel survives) Shores, Andrew Shores and Dennis (the late Janet) Shores.
A celebration of life will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cremation Society of Kansas and Missouri.
