Ronald Howard Short, 84, of Arcadia, Fla., formerly of Bright, Ill., died Feb. 21, 2023, in Arcadia. Mr. Short was a carpenter for Olin Corp. and spent time studying the stock market. He was a member of the Carpenters Union and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his family. Born Oct. 23, 1938, in Alton, Ill., he was the son of the late Pauline and Howard Short.
He is survived by his wife: Norma Short; nine children: Ronald Short, Gail (Dennis) Nickel, Dawn Short Derousse, Shelly Short, John Short, Belinda Blevens, Patricia (Joe) Roberts, Annette (Mike) Delehanty and Felicia Doyle; 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Herbert Short; a son-in-law: Steve Brenner; two granddaughters: April Nickel and Carolyn Holmes; and a grandson: Caleb Doyle.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 6, at Gent Funeral Home, 2409 State St., in Alton, Ill. Burial is in the Brighton City Cemetery in Brighton, Ill. Arrangements are under the direction of Gent Funeral Home.
