Loida, Ronald

Ronald E. Loida, 77, of Eureka died July 13, 2022. Mr. Loida was born Feb. 20, 1945, in St Louis, the son of the late Lawrence and Adele Loida. He attended grade school at Assumption Catholic School in St. Louis. He was a hard worker who owned his own construction company, owned and operated a laundromat and later owned and managed several rental properties. Fishing was his favorite hobby and he loved working in his garden and raising chickens. He built his family home in Eureka himself in 1978. He enjoyed hosting family gatherings, especially on the Fourth of July, and would go out of his way to help all of his children in any way he could, instilling confidence and acting as a mentor. He was known for his sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years: Mary Ann (Mennemyer) Loida, who was his high school sweetheart; four children: Susan Northcutt, Ronald L. Loida, Melinda [Steve] Ellis and John [Sherry] Loida; 11 grandchildren: Robert, Nikki, Jessie, Jeffery, Dustin, Amanda, Trevor, Katie, Emily, Alyssa and John Jr; seven great-grandchildren; three siblings: Larry Loida, Karen Hall and Carolyn Daniels; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son: Michael; a daughter: Catherine; and a brother: Jerry.

A funeral service was held July 22 at Fey Funeral Home in south St. Louis County, followed by a graveside service at Assumption Cemetery in St. Louis.  Arrangements were under the direction of Fey Funeral Home.
