Rodney Allen Byrd, 72, of Festus died Dec. 7, 2016, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Byrd was an assembler. He enjoyed working on cars and watching NASCAR races. Born Aug. 9, 1944, in Sullivan, he was the son of the late Lyle and Maude (Craig) Byrd.
He is survived by his wife: Sandra (Politte) Byrd; a son: Troy Byrd of Festus; two daughters: Cindy (David) Young and Chery (Brian) Hardesty, both of Festus; two sisters: Betty (the late Corbett) Green of Davisville and Lorraine (Verlon) Govro of Festus; seven grandchildren: Ashley, Nickolas, Casey, Logan, Desa, Destyne and Kylie; four great-grandchildren: Audrey, Mason, Elijah and Abram; and a good friend: Greg Meyer of Festus.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at VFW Post 3777, 900 VFW Drive, Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Ozark Food Pantry, 1 Sunset Park Trail, Festus, MO 63028. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
