Roberta “Bobbie” Ellis, 93, of Wappapello, formerly of Festus, died July 25, 2020, at the Puxico Nursing Center in Puxico. Mrs. Ellis was a member of First Baptist Church of Festus/Crystal City and the VFW Auxiliary. She was born April 17, 1927, in Chloride, the daughter of the late Hattie (Knight) and Allen Markham. She was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph Ellis.
She is survived by four children: Terry Ellis of Wappapello, Roxanne Schipper of Festus, Mark Ellis of Wappapello and Becky (Tony) Smith of Caruthersville; 10 grandchildren: John Ellis, Heather Ellis, Chris Parsons, Anthony Smith, April Bauer, Jennifer Hulvey, Julie Kirkpatrick, Ethan Ellis, Brent Ellis and Stewart Ellis; eight great-grandchildren: Madelyn Kirkpatrick, Breeanna Weigle, Christopher Smith, Matthew Smith, David Welch, Destiny Bauer, Dustin Bauer, and David Ellis; and three siblings: Emille, Pat, and Dixie.
She was preceded in death by 10 siblings: Cora, Alda, Dorothy, Margaret, Nellie, Josephine, Nina, Herbert, Willard and John.
Visitation is scheduled from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, at the funeral home. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
