Graham, Robert

Robert Lee Graham, 90, of Dittmer died March 4, 2021 in Arnold. Mr. Graham, a graduate of Washington University and an active member of its Alumni Association, devoted many of his years to teaching at St. Louis Community College, courses such as physical education and scuba diving, as well as coaching several water sports. He was a man of faith and attended St. Martin’s United Church of Christ in Dittmer. Mr. Graham was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time on his property, and loved taking his family on numerous family camping trips. A member of the Beekeepers Association, he spent many hours working with his bees and helping others learn the art of beekeeping. He also raised beagles and became known nationally for their pedigree.

He was a volunteer at Grandview Elementary School, delivered Meals on Wheels and donated to several charities. He also was passionate about giving funds to his preferred political parties. Born April 6, 1930, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Frank and Vivian (Sweeting) Graham. He was preceded in death by his wife: Kay F. (Lambert) Graham.

He is survived by three children: Cathleen “Cathy” (Tom) Carroll, Mark (Meghan) Graham and Scott (Julie) Graham; six grandchildren: Megan (Clayton) Gentsch, Amy (Travis) Foley, Christopher (Nikki) Graham, Katherine “Katie” Graham, Kyle Graham and Anna Graham; three great-grandchildren: Luca, Reese and Eric; and numerous extended family members, friends and supportive neighbors.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Martha Roethlisberger and Charlotte King.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Martin’s United Church of Christ in Dittmer. Arrangements were under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
