Robert L. Kyle, 81, of Cedar Hill died Aug. 17, 2017, at Big Bend Woods Nursing Home in Valley Park. Mr. Kyle was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in Germany, acquiring skiils that helped him get a job as an inspector for McDonnell-Douglas (now Boeing). He used his mechanical skills on the job and by maintaining a vehicle for an employee van pool.
He enjoyed lawn care, performing upkeep on family vehicles, shooting pool and watching the local wildlife through the window. He loved the simple pleasures, such as KFC chicken and chocolate, especially homemade chocolate chip cookies, and had a quirky sense of humor and distinctive grin. Born March 12, 1936, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Charles “Red” and Leona (Chott) Kyle. He was preceded in death by his wife: Diane (Engholm) Harris-Kyle.
He is survived by two children: Bobette (Tim) Kyle-Wagner of St. Louis and Dawn Kyle of High Ridge; three stepchildren: Dianna (Carl Dean) Isley, Larry Harris and Wendy (Chris) Bruener; a brother: Stanley (Georgia) Kyle of House Springs; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clete Kyle.
Funeral services and burial were private. Arrangements were under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary in Cedar Hill.
