Agers, Robert

Robert Gene “Bob” Agers, 80, of De Soto died Dec. 10, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Agers retired as an equipment operator from Fred Weber Inc. and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 513.  He was a member of  Amvets Post 48, VFW Post 1831 and B.P.O.E. Lodge 689. He maintained and supervised the activities at Agers Park, and enjoyed farming, deer hunting and playing golf. Born July 16, 1942, in Springfield, Ill., he was the son of the late Lillian Marie (Secrets) and Albert Ellis Agers Sr.

He is survived by four children: Chris (Kristina) Agers of St. Clair, Cheri (John Hardin) Agers of De Soto, Cassie (Mike Merseal) Pruneau of De Soto and Cindy Chappell of De Soto; six grandchildren: Robert W. Agers, Gina Womack, Holly Womack, Emily Fitzsimmons, Jacob (Sam) Myers and Cindy (Dan Strauser) Chappell; four great-grandchildren: Dillon, Mason, Jaydin and Evelyn; a brother: Edward (Darlene) Agers of Festus; and his former wife: Bev Agers of De Soto. He was preceded in death by a grandson: Timothy Agers; and a brother: Marshall (Sherry survives) Agers.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at the funeral home, officiated by Terry Crank. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
