Robert Eugene Hodges Sr., 86, of Festus died May 26, 2016, at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County. Mr. Hodges was a retired control room operator for AmerenUE and a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of American Legion Post 253 in Festus and the National Rifle Association Born Sept. 15, 1929, in Little Rock, Ark., he was the son of the late Jettie Mae (Bassham) and Monroe M. Hodges. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth L. Hodges.
He is survived by a daughter: Pat (Bob) Francis of Herculaneum; a son: Robert E. (Bonnie) Hodges Jr. of Festus; six grandchildren: Katie (Eric) Francis Cunningham, William Francis, Lauren Francis, Megan (William) Schenk, Carla (Larry) Hodges Gore and Shasta Hunt; 10 great-grandchildren: Coleen Schenk, Zachary Schenk, Emelia Cunningham, Blake Cunningham, Ryan Cunningham, Lilian Hunt, Christian Kinghorne, Kolbiey Hunt, Taylor Hunt and Quentin Hunt; and his longtime loving companion, Florence Stafford.
He was preceded in death by a sister; three brothers; and a grandson, Shane Hunt.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Dripping Springs Cemetery in Van Buren, Ark. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
