Aubuchon, Robert

Robert Darryl “Bob” Aubuchon,  84, formerly of Festus, died Sept. 14, 2020, at the John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit. Mr. Aubuchon, a graduate of Festus High School and of the Missouri School of Mines, was a retired engineer and an active member of Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Elks Lodge 1721 in Crystal City and American Legion Post 253 in Festus. For many years he was involved in youth baseball as a Little League coach and manager of the American Legion Post 253  team. In 1990 he was a founder of the American Legion Post 253 Patriots singing group and remained active with that group until throat cancer took his voice in 1991. Later in his retirement, he was an active pool player and was well-known in many pool leagues in Jefferson County. He was born Aug. 11, 1936, in Festus, the son of the late Irene (Judy) and Claude J. Aubuchon. 

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years: Agnes (Portell) Aubuchon; two sons: David (Anne) Aubuchon of Lee’s Summit and Steven (Laura) Aubuchon of Newark, Del.; two grandsons: Colin Aubuchon and Wesley Aubuchon; and three nieces: Lori (Gary) McComack of De Soto, Claudia (Doug) Waller of Festus and Karen Basham of Herculaneum.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Margie (the late Homer) Leftridge; and an infant daughter: Angela Marie Aubuchon. 

A graveside service with full military honors was held Sept 22 at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City, officiated by Father Gregory Klump.  Memorials may be made to Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
