Robert “Bob” Lee Narens Jr., 83, of St. James died June 26, 2020, in St. James. Mr. Narens retired after working 25 years at the Ferguson Machine Co. and also worked for other companies. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists for more than 50 years and was a volunteer fireman and EMT for the Rock Community Fire Protection District for 12 years. He served as master of the Gardenville Cache Masonic Lodge 455 and was a member of the Algabil-Freedom Lodge 636. Raised by his maternal grandparents, Mr. Narens was a graduate of Hadley Technical High School in St. Louis. He and his family lived in Arnold for 52 years. Born May 7, 1937, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Margaret Greene (Kirk) and Robert L. Narens Sr. and was raised by his maternal grandparents, the late Emma (Woodward) and Charlie Kirk.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Linda Carldene (Devenport) Narens, whom he married Aug. 26, 1956; a daughter: Deborah Ann (Mark) Sexton of St. James; a son: Mark Eaton Narens of Columbus, Ohio; two step-granddaughters: Jacquelyn (Rory) Kaplan and Jennifer (Jon) Hall; two step-grandchildren: Edith, Marjorie, Miriam, Bryan Sexton and Danielle (Chadd) Yates; three step-great-grandchildren: Julia, Asher and Layla; and an aunt: Dorothy “Dot” Pardo of Weldon Spring.
He was preceded in death by a son: Barry Lee Narens; and his daughter’s first husband, Dennis Ottomeyer.
A Masonic funeral service will be at the Algabil-Freedom Lodge at a later date. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children. Arrangements were by Fey Funeral Home, south St. Louis County.
