Robert “Bob” Alt Sr., 79, High Ridge, died April 14, 2020. Mr. Alt was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking and camping, and spending time with his family. He collected eagles, coffee cups and model trains. Born March 28, 1941, in St. Louis, he was the son of Dorothy (Baumann) and Edward Alt.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Marie Alt.
He is survived by eight children: Peggy Alt, Patricia (Leonard) Patterson of Okawville, Ill., Bobbie Jo (Mickey) O’ Kelley of Poplar Bluff, Tammy (Mike) Ireland of Vancouver, Wash., Caroline (Paul) Mangan of Catawissa, Anthony (Jody) Alt of Cedar Hill, Robert Alt Jr. of Silver Springs, Fla. and Melanie (Dave) Henke of Murphy; a sister: Loretta O’Day of St. Louis; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by four siblings: Margaret Menees, Larry Alt, Gerald Alt and Carol Lambert; a daughter: Judith Ann Alt; and a grandson: Chad Tyler Alt.
Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. Monday, April 20, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Attendees will receive numbers as they arrive and remain in their cars until their numbers are called. Private service will be at Chapel Hill Mortuary. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
