Rita Faye Thurman, 78, of Festus died Nov. 19, 2020, at Crystal Oaks in Crystal City. Mrs. Thurman was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Festus. She enjoyed camping, traveling, spending her winters in Texas, playing bingo, reading. and spending time with her family and friends. Born June 24, 1942 in Farmington, she was the daughter of the late Timon and Faye (Alexander) Romburg.
She is survived by her husband: Walter Harold Thurman of Festus; a son: John (Christy) Thurman of Crystal City; a daughter: Sandra (Fred) Hynes of Festus; five grandchildren: Matthew (Cindy) Hynes, Gregory (Chelsea) Hynes, Lindsay (Ethan) Ammons, Brittani (Michael) Cibulka and Lexi Thurman; three great-grandchildren: Ainsley Hynes, Cohen Hynes and River Ammons; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation is at 1 p.m. and a funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Dr., in Festus, officiated by Deacon Dan Raidt. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
