Rickey “Rick” Harold Blase, 64, of Hillsboro died March 23, 2017, in St. Louis. Mr. Blase was an investigator for Wells Fargo Bank, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, an Eagle Scout, a former leader of Boy Scout Troop 992 and was a motorcyclist, writer and photographer. Born Nov. 22, 1952, in Kirkwood, he was the son of the late Eugene H. and Mae (Wolfe) Blase.
He is survived by his wife: Catherine P. (Daugherty) Blase; a daughter: Camille A. Blase of Pacific; three sons: Richard E. Blase of Hillsboro, Ryan J. (Lisa) Blase of O’Fallon and Rodney M. Blase of Pevely; two brothers: Randall J. (Sharon) Blase of Hillsboro and Donald E. (Janet) Blase of Lonedell; seven grandchildren: Deacon, Evan, Faith, Amelia, Killian, Juniper and Ethan.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother: Patricia Blase; and his grandmother: Jeanette Wolfe.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m., Monday, March 27, at Robert D. Brown Funeral Home, 103 Fourth St., in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 701 Third St., Hillsboro. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Birthright. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home.
